Psychological Health and Safety: Risk Assessment and Action Planning

In today’s workplaces, the risk of mental injury from psychological health and safety (PHS) hazards is very real, and very costly. We see it manifest in distraction, errors, incidents, absenteeism, conflict, claims of workplace harassment and bullying, burnout, disengagement, and turnover.

Risk assessment is an integral part of minimizing the risk of work-related injury and operating a safe, healthy and productive organization where workers can flourish.

However, most risk assessment processes focus on traditional hazards (chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic). They do not include PHS, which by nature, is the foundation of a truly healthy, safe and productive workplace. In many cases, PHS impacts the level of risk from other hazards and affects all areas of the business.

This workshop is designed to help you gain the practical knowledge and skills needed to accurately assess the risk associated with PHS hazards in your workplace.

Key Lessons
  • How PHS in the workplace affects the health and safety of workers

  • How to prepare for a successful PHS risk assessment

  • How to identify PHS hazards and assess the risk of harm

  • How to determine appropriate preventive and protective measures to minimize the risk of harm from PHS hazards

  • How to integrate PHS risk assessment into your risk assessment process
